Teachers First

This is my favorite teacher site. I get a weekly email filled with wonderful sites to check out. If you have ever gotten an email from me telling you about a site chances are I got it from Teachers First. I highly recommend that you sign up for their email.

TeachersFirst is a rich collection of lessons, units, and web resources designed to save teachers time by delivering just what they need in a practical, user-friendly, and ad-free format. Although this site is originally intended for McDougall Littell, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt book users, many of the various publishers include the same state recommended core works in their anthologies. Many of the teacher and student tools are only accessible to McDougall Littell/ Houghton/Mifflin Harcourt users; however there is an abundance of materials that do not require a log in. Simple k12 Virtual Field Trips

Virtual field trips challenge and expose students to new types of technology. It is a great way to spark their interest and motivate their learning in a specific content area. Virtual field trips can offer students more opportunities because you can take them to places they wouldn't normally be able to go to otherwise - like inside a volcano or ocean floor! In addition, virtual field trips may even boost students' reading comprehension skills and will expose them to different cultures and environments.

Online Basic Skill Games

Although this site bills itself as a site with games it is way more than that. I gives you links to multiple web sites. Many are games but most are iBasicskills1.gifnteractive in some manner.

This site provides links to basic skill games for math, language arts, science, and social studies. Although we don’t typically review “hotlists” this one really has something to offer anyone teaching elementary or middle school. Each subject area has several topics. Each topic has countless links for more information and/or activities. Language Arts topics include Letter Fun, Working with Words, Go Grammar, Spell It, and Read It. Science highlights Animals, Plants, Physics, Biology, Anatomy, Weather, and Space. Math includes everything from Money to Probability to Graphing to Patterns (and more). At the Social Studies link you will find Maps, 50 States, U.S. Presidents, History, The World, and Flags. The link to interactive websites includes activities for grades pre-K -12

Claroline- ELearning Environment

Claroline is an Open Source eLearning and eWorking platform allowing teachers to build effective online courses and to manage learning and collaborative activities on the web. Translated into 35 languages, Claroline has a large worldwide users’ and developers’ community.
Released under Open Source license, the Claroline platform allows hundreds of organizations from 93 countries to create and administer courses and collaboration spaces online. Each course space provides a list of tools enabling the teacher to :

Seating Plan Creator

This site allows you to create seating charts with a few simple clicks. An advantage to this is that seats can be arranged anyway you want them to be. Click to add seats, remove seats, or rotate. Add students names, save your work, and print. *Hint: to make any changes you click on the color tab on the bottom of the name/desk - this makes that seat "active" and able to be moved however needed.
